Creativity now has a structure to call home at Art House, Inc.
After months of renovations to its 1948 Quonset building, the fledgling nonprofit center for the visual arts will move its previously off-site programming into the rehabilitated structure at 3119 Denison Avenue in Old Brooklyn.
To celebrate the opening of the new facility, Art House is inviting the public to a Community Open House on Saturday, November 9, from noon to 3 p.m. Local artists will demonstrate techniques in stained glass, ceramics, sculpture, batik and bead-making, while artist Heather Protz leads a hands-on activity in pop-up card-making. To add to the celebratory atmosphere, acoustic guitarist/singer Lee Chilcote and The Contemporary Youth Orchestra will provide live music entertainment. Of course, there will be some snacks, too.
While you’re looking around, keep in mind that Art House still needs some supplies and furnishings. If you can donate art materials, cleaning supplies, folding chairs or tables, hand or power tools, or other basic furnishings, call 216.398.8556.
