Make it Your Lucky Day!
Tremont’s latest entry into the coffeehouse/café world is Lucky’s Café located at 777 Starkweather Avenue (east of West 11th). Hours of operation are M-F 7 am - 8 pm and weekends from 9 am - 8 pm. Lucky’s has a selection of coffees, teas, rich hot chocolates and juices. Coffees are brewed locally by Carl Jones of Phoenix Coffee. Light fare includes Bialy’s bagels, muffins, cookies, and other locally-created pastries. On a recent visit the apple strudel was mouth-watering; just like my mom used to make. Actually, Lucky’s manager and owner Lisa’s mother did make it!
Lucky’s serves a pretty good menu of soups, salads and sandwiches, from 11 am through closing daily. Prices range from $2 for a small soup to $5- $6 for the salads and sandwiches. A grilled cheese can be made upon request for your picky little eater.
Lucky’s is also a cybercafé. Prices for internet access are $2 per hour with a purchase and $4 without. Pricing is billed in 15 minute increments.
It is strictly NON-SMOKING and is pretty kid-friendly with both tables and a nice relaxing couch. While on a recent trip to Lucky’s, I saw a couple of our Tremont ”Mama Says” readers as well as some friends from Ohio City.
You can also call ahead for pickup at 216-622-7773 or visit www.luckyscafe.com. They are currently sponsoring a “Name your Own Drink” contest which can be accessed from their website.
