The Cleveland Public Library programming schedule for 2003 is kicking into gear in February. Here are some highlights:
• Winter Reading Club registration begins February 3 at all branches. All participants will be invited to Library Day at the Art Museum on March 9 and Library Day at the Zoo on April 12. Other prizes they’ll get a crack at include tickets for two anywhere Southwest Airlines flies.
• Tremont’s Jefferson Branch will offer more fun for preschoolers, beginning the week of February 3. Storytime will be Wednesdays at 11 am, and Play & Learn — an opportunity for parent and child to explore toys and books together with other families — will be offered on Fridays at 11 am.
• Gung Hay Phat Choy! That means “Happy Lunar New Year!” I think. Anyway, they’ll be celebrating the first new moon of the new year at the South Brooklyn Branch with a special story time featuring Doris Yee (Thursday, February 6 at 6:30 pm). At Detroit-Shoreway’s Walz Branch, children will gather for a story and craft at 2 pm on Saturday February 15. And the Main Library will host a program of children’s activities and folk dance on Saturday, February 8 beginning at 2 pm.
• Carnegie West Branch in Ohio City will offer stories and mask-making to celebrate Mardi Gras on Tuesday, February 25.
• Critters from the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo will visit the Brooklyn Branch on Thursday, February 13, at 4:30 pm.
