More than a Drop in the Bucket

Last year, 1,629 homes in Cleveland got a fresh new look thanks to Cleveland’s Paint Refund program.

Residents file an application with the Department of Community Development between May 1 and July 31, complete painting before October 31, and pass an inspection before receiving a refund of up to $400 for house paint. The program does not cover the cost of labor.

The program follows HUD’s guidelines for low-income households (less than $48,000 for a family of four). To find out about special discounts and neighborhood agencies offering paint vouchers, call 216-664-2045 or 216-664-4053.

Go to www.clevelandstonewalldemocrats.org, and click on “Links.” The political stuff is, of course, heavily party-oriented. But scroll down the list and find thing like quick links to most of Cleveland’s Community Development Corporations. Handy!

Clevelanders have just two items on the ballot: Issue 2, the Library Levy, and Issue 15, the Health & Human Services Levy. CLEVELAND CANNOT AFFORD FOR EITHER ISSUE TO FAIL.

If you have any hesitation about whether you can support these levies, please visit www.cpl.org and click on “Issue 2: Get the Facts,” and www.votefor15.org I have found no organized opposition to Issue 2. For details about opposition to Issue 15, contact Dave Regan, president of the Service Employees International Union Local 1199 at dregan@seiu1199.org
