Free Soccer! Free Yoga!

This summer will bring something new to Fairview Park: ongoing programming. We’re going to try two new series focusing on fun and fitness and open to all ages.

Yoga Play will be led by Manda Gillespie. It will meet Mondays and Thursdays at 5 pm, beginning June 9. Participants will be introduced to basic yoga asanas that help to build flexibility and strength of body and mind. Bring a towel or mat. No classes on June 23, 26 or July 14, 17.

Soccer Camp, led by Miriam Schuman, will begin June 14, and will meet on Saturday and Tuesday mornings at 10 am. It will focus on teaching soccer skills to children of all ability levels.

Children must have parental permission to participate in either program. Both programs are free. The park is located on West 38th between Woodbine and Franklin.

Summer Reading Club

Cleveland Public Library will “Celebrate Ohio” this summer in its reading incentives program for readers ages preschool through teen. Prizes will include a sail on a tall ship, free tickets to see the Rockers or the Dinosaurs at the Zoo, and more. Register at any branch. The program runs for eight weeks from June 9 - August 9.

Individual branches will host special activities during the program. Some of the offerings include:

Summer Kid Flix

Parmatown Cinemas will offer a magical and delightful series of children’s movies. It starts on July 2 and ends on August 13. Individual tickets are $1, and a series ticket is just $5 for all seven weeks. Movies for the young and young at heart are shown on Wednesdays, with show times at 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. Kids of all ages are welcome. The most tolerable for adults is “The Indian in the Cupboard” by the imaginative director Frank Oz. However, if you find sitting through any kid film too excruciating, parental supervision is not required. Here’s the schedule:
