… or maybe a Slingshot or a Deuce Coupe? Edgewater State Park now sports a fleet of glossy, primary-colored novelty bikes for rent by the hour at Wheel Fun Rentals in the lower pavilion.
Owner Eric Anderson, who bundled the bike rental service with his bid on the pavilion’s concession stand, boasts three of the popular franchises (the others are at Geneva-on-the-Lake and Thornburg Station in Valleyview).
Half- and full-day rentals of mountain bikes, cruisers and inline skates are imminent; paddleboats are also a possibility. Hourly rentals range from $10/hour for three styles of recumbent bike to $30 for a surrey seating four riders and two very, very short and excited passengers.
On most weekends, rentals are half price at 8:30pm, just in time for a sunset cruise on Edgewater’s glass-smooth circuit trail. Helmets are required and provided free for all riders. Hours are 10am-8pm on weekdays, 10am-9:30pm on weekends (last rentals at 8:30). 216-631-1504 or www.wheelfunrentals.com
