Hercules vs. Godzilla this Weekend
What happens when an energetic, perceptive and creative group of 9-13 year olds get their hands on the myths, legends, gods, monsters and heroes of classic literaturemixed with a few pop icons for good measure? Check out NWT’s modern spin that whirls to new heights in the rocking odyssey and fantastical visions of this original work!
Written by NWTs Associate Artistic Director, Jodi Maile, Hercules vs. Godzilla fuses modern pop icons, rock music and media images with the classic mythology of ancient Greece. In creating this comic and often poignant retelling of the stories of Hercules, Persephone, Narcissus and Pandora, cast members (ages 9-13) are asked to examine questions and issues concerning beauty and body image, the true nature of heroism, the ramifications of media bombardment as well as the universal themes of individual will and fate.
