Shine, Little Stars

For 20 years, Cleveland Public Theatre has blazed trails, producing high quality, adventurous theatre and educational programs in Northeast Ohio. Now they add a thrilling educational opportunity for children and adults to take another step toward the edge. Beginning in January 2004, CPT presents the CPT Academy.

CPT Academy commits to providing innovative theatre training to artists of all ages, regardless of experience level. CPT’s ground-breaking methods unlock the creative power and inspiration in each individual, while at the same time focusing that energy through clear dramatic technique.

Classes for children allow for fun theatre games, dress-up play, and guided improvisations into magical worlds. They learn important tools about building performance as they work towards producing and performing in their very own production.

The first class schedule for children follows (teen and adult schedule to be announced soon):

Winter 2004 Class Schedule
Ten Saturdays beginning January 10, 2004, times TBA. Classes will take place on the CPT campus.

The Play Room (ages 6-12; One Hour Class; $125; Instructor, Jill Levin) emphasizes play. Through the use of games and familiar stories, simple acting skills are developed. Students explore the steps in making a play, including playwriting, designing, and characterization. This class ends with a presentation of an original class production.

Fairy Tales (ages 3-5; 45 Minute Class; $100; Instructor, Holly Holsinger) is a fun approach for little performers just starting out. Students take part in interactive games, music, dress-up, and stories, acting them out in each class.
